Sandusky, OH – September 5, 2024 – The Erie County Health Department is pleased to
announce the opening of Kaptur-Rogowski House, a 14-bed short-term crisis stabilization unit serving individuals over the age of 18. The facility is medically monitored and provides 24/7 care, including hot meals, showers, private sleeping areas, and access to group therapy and other support services.
Kaptur-Rogowski House is certified as a Class 1 Residential Facility providing Substance Use
and Mental Health crisis stabilization services. Kaptur-Rogowski House is designed to provide individuals experiencing a mental health or behavioral health crisis with a safe and supportive environment while connecting them with ongoing services, such as health care, dental care, mental health counseling, and addiction treatment and recovery.
“Kaptur-Rogowski House provides a much-needed resource for individuals in our community who are facing a crisis,” said Peter T. Schade, Erie County Health Commissioner. “This facility will save lives by providing immediate care and support, and it will help people get back on their feet so that they can live healthy, productive lives.”
The Erie County Health Department would like to thank its community partners, including U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, Firelands Health, and the Erie County Sheriff, for their support in making Kaptur-Rogowski House a reality.
The Erie County Health Department would also like to express its sincere gratitude to The
Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Erie County for their partnership and generous support in providing $1,000,000.00 toward operating expenses for the Kaptur-Rogowski House. Their investment in this vital community resource will help ensure that individuals in crisis have access to the care and support they need.
