OLDER ADULT HEALTH – ABOUT

Our bodies change throughout our lives. This is a simple fact that has important impacts on our health and wellness as we age. Many factors influence healthy aging, and there are actions you can take to help manage your health, live as independently as possible, and maintain your quality of life as you age. Some factors, such as genetics, are not in our control. Others — like exercise, a healthy diet, going to the doctor regularly, and taking care of our mental health — are within our reach. By making healthy choices and actively managing the symptoms of chronic conditions, we can increase our well-being and reduce our health care costs. By preventing avoidable injuries and illnesses, such as the flu and falls, we also reduce the likelihood of disability.
