Quitting the use of tobacco whether it be smoking, vaping or any kind of tobacco products, is the best thing you can do for your body, but quitting is not easy. Here in Erie County, there is a wide variety of FREE resources that anyone can use. There are free quit smoking group classes, individual sessions, and the Ohio Tobacco Quitline. In addition, medical providers and community partners are offered free cessation trainings to assist when talking to patients/clients about their tobacco use.
The Erie County Health Department (ECHD) has programs and services for local school districts that are looking to implement 100% tobacco free schools polices and/or an evidence-based cessation program for schools who are looking to prioritize cessation over discipline, powered through My Life My Quit. Cessation in Lieu of Suspension emphasizes cessation instead of disciplinary actions like suspension to get youth to stop the use of tobacco products.
