Erie County Community Health Center Receives Prestigious National Awards

SANDUSKY, OHIO – August 29, 2024: The Erie County Health Department and Erie County
Community Health Center (ECHD/ECCHC) are excited to announce that the ECCHC has been
awarded four Community Health Center Quality Reporting (CHQR) badges by the Health
Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for 2024. This recognition places ECCHC in
the top 10% of federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) nationwide.

The Gold Health Center Quality Leader badge underscores ECCHC’s commitment to providing exceptional healthcare services to Erie, Huron, and Ottawa County communities.

The Advancing HIT for Quality badge highlights the center’s innovative use of technology to improve patient outcomes. The Health Disparities Reducer badge recognizes ECCHC’s efforts to address health inequities and ensure access to quality care for all. Finally, the Access
Enhancer badge celebrates the center’s dedication to providing accessible and affordable
healthcare services to its patients.

“These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, who are
passionate about healthcare and our communities here,” said Joe Palmucci, CEO of ECCHC.
“We are excited to see this area continue to thrive as more people are connected to needed
care and services.”

“The ECCHC’s commitment to providing high-quality, comprehensive healthcare services to our community is truly inspiring, ” said Peter Schade, Erie County Health Commissioner. “ECCHC is a vital asset to our region, and I am grateful for their dedication to improving the health and well-being of our residents.”

Earlier this year, ECCHC was one of only 160 health center programs nationwide to be granted funding through HRSA’s Service Area Competition. ECCHC is the only comprehensive FQHC in the tri-county area, and offers a wide range of services, including primary care, dental care, mental health services, and withdrawal management for behavioral issues. This unique combination of services ensures that patients have access to the care they need, all under one roof.
