FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Erie-Huron WIC Program Partners with Imagination Library to Promote Early Literacy

[Norwalk, Ohio, November 15, 2024] The Erie County Health Department’s Erie-Huron County WIC program is excited to announce its partnership with the Imagination Library of Ohio. This partnership will provide free books to children enrolled in the WIC program, fostering a love of reading from an early age.

As one of only 10 WIC locations statewide to receive this honor, the Norwalk WIC office has
established a dedicated reading space to encourage early literacy.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Imagination Library of Ohio,” said Andrea Caudill, WIC Director for Erie-Huron Counties. “Early literacy is crucial for a child’s development, and this program will help ensure that every child in our community has access to books and the opportunity to develop a lifelong love of reading.”

Reading aloud to children is a powerful tool that can help them develop language skills, improve vocabulary, and boost cognitive development. It also strengthens the bond between parent and child. By providing free books to children, the Imagination Library of Ohio and the Erie-Huron County WIC program are working together to create a brighter future for the next generation.
