ECHD Helps 50 Children

Erie County Health Department Delivers Dental Care to 50 Children at Give Kids a Smile
Event

On February 27, the Erie County Health Department proudly participated in the annual Give Kids a Smile event, providing essential dental services free of charge to 50 children. The annual event aims to address dental health disparities among underserved youth in our community.

ECHD hosted the event at our state-of-the-art dental facility within the Erie County Community
Health Center, 420 Superior Street, Sandusky. Children received comprehensive dental
screenings, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and education on proper oral hygiene practices. Our
team worked tirelessly to ensure each child received personalized care and left with brighter
smiles and healthier teeth.

“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to make a positive impact on the oral health of
children in our community,” said Peter T. Schade, Erie County Health Commissioner. “Events like
Give Kids a Smile reinforce our commitment to ensuring access to quality dental care for all
children, regardless of their socioeconomic status.”

ECHD encourages families who were unable to attend to ask about our two Dental Safety Net
Programs. These two programs offer free or reduced-cost dental services for eligible children and
adults, ensuring that no one goes without essential dental care.
