2024 Community Health Assessment Available for Residents, Community Organizations
[Sandusky, OH] – October 30, 2024 – The Erie County Health Department/Erie County
Community Health Center (ECHD/ECCHC), in collaboration with Firelands Health and the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Board of Erie County, have completed the 2024 Community Health Assessment (CHA) and the 2024 Youth Health Assessment (YHA). The full reports are available on the agency’s website by clicking here.
These comprehensive assessments, conducted in partnership with Bowling Green State
University’s Center for Regional Development, provide valuable insights into the current health status of Erie County residents, including both adults and youth. The CHAs identify areas of strength, highlight opportunities for improvement, and pinpoint critical community health needs.
“Understanding the health priorities of our community is essential for developing effective
programs and initiatives to serve residents,” said Pete Schade, Health Commissioner, ECHD.
“The 2024 CHAs will serve as a roadmap to guide our efforts in collaboration with our partners to improve the overall health and well-being of Erie County residents.”
The findings of the CHAs will inform the development of the next Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). This plan, expected to be completed in the next 6-8 months, will outline specific strategies and programs to address the identified needs. Community meetings and stakeholder engagement are currently underway to gather input and ensure the CHIP reflects a comprehensive community-driven approach.
The 2024 CHA and YHA reports are now available on the Erie County Health Department website at eriecohealthohio.com. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and participate in upcoming community meetings to discuss the findings and help shape the future of health in Erie County.
