Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit

The Kaptur-Rogowski House is a 15-bed facility that provides intensive, short-term behavioral health treatment alternatives to the emergency room or inpatient hospitalization. The goal is the reduction of mental health symptoms, resolution of the crisis, restoration of functioning, connection to support and resources, and rapid reintegration back into the community. Kaptur House serves anyone 18 years and older in a warm environment, with access to individual and group therapy, skill building, peer support services, medication management with a prescriber, case management, identification of a natural support system, and referrals to continued services in the community.

Appropriate Individuals for Kaptur-Rogowski House:

• Anyone experiencing an increase in mental health symptoms including depression, anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations, delusions or difficulty controlling moods.
• Persons who are experiencing suicidal or homicidal ideation, with or without a plan, who are voluntarily seeking assistance with those thoughts.
• Individuals experiencing a self-defined mental health crisis due to external factors.
• Individuals who have come to the attention of law enforcement who would be better served by crisis services instead of court involvement.
• Individuals struggling with substance abuse resulting in crisis.
• Hospital step downs: individuals who require a hospital level of care initially, but wish to transition to the stabilization level of care once a safety contract is created. This process is completed collaboratively with the hospital social worker and transition can happen from a medical or psychiatric floor.

Kaptur-Rogowski House is Unable to Accept Individuals Who:

• Require continuous nursing care (i.e. unable to independently perform activities of daily living).
• Have acute physical concerns that require hospital placement.
• Present an imminent risk of harm to self or others without the ability to contract for safety on the unit.
• Currently require use of isolation or restraint or have required chemical or physical restraint in the last 48 hours.
• Individuals that arrive under the influence of substances will be offered the Detox Program and be able to transition back to Kaptur House once stabilized.

**Kaptur House will require medical clearance for individuals with the above circumstances and will provide services once this is achieved.
