Kaptur Rogowski House Opens

JUNE 7, 2024, SANDUSKY, OHIO: Erie County has taken a significant step forward in
supporting the mental health needs of our community with the recent opening of the Kaptur Rogowski House. This new 14-bed crisis center provides a vital resource for adults and families experiencing a mental health crisis.

Finding Safety and Support During Difficult Times
The Kaptur Rogowski House offers temporary residential care for individuals 18 and over, or accompanied minors, who are facing a mental health crisis. Imagine feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or unsafe – the Kaptur Rogowski House provides a safe space to land, offering a chance to breathe and begin the journey towards recovery.

Short-term Stays with Long-Term Impact
Clients can stay at the facility for 1-5 days, receiving crucial support during a vulnerable time.

Staff will provide a safe and secure environment, including individual and family sleeping
quarters. This allows individuals to focus on their well-being without the pressures of daily life.

A Gateway to Care and Resources
But the Kaptur Rogowski House goes beyond just offering a safe place to sleep. During their stay, each client will receive medical and mental health care. This comprehensive assessment helps identify specific needs and allows staff to connect clients with appropriate resources for ongoing care. Whether it’s a connection to longer term, residential treatment services, connecting with a therapist, finding a support group, or accessing medication, the Kaptur Rogowski House acts as a bridge to long-term mental health support.

Addressing a Critical Need in Erie County
The opening of the Kaptur Rogowski House comes at a crucial time. Erie County has been
designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as a High Needs
Geographic Area for Mental Health services. This designation highlights the significant need for accessible and quality mental healthcare in our community.

The Kaptur Rogowski House helps address this need by offering immediate and essential
support during a crisis. Let’s face it, mental health struggles don’t follow a schedule, and having a safe and supportive place to turn to during a crisis can be life-changing.
