Erie County Health Department and Sandusky Aquatics Center Announce Intensive Three-Day Lifeguard Certification Training
[Sandusky, Ohio – November 19, 2025] The Erie County Health Department (ECHD), in collaboration with the Sandusky Aquatics Center, today announced a vital, intensive lifeguard training program designed to certify new lifeguards ahead of the upcoming hiring season.
The comprehensive certification course will take place over three consecutive days: Friday, December 12, through Sunday, December 14. This focused format allows candidates to earn their full certification quickly and efficiently.
The program is critical for addressing the ongoing demand for qualified aquatic safety personnel across Erie County. Due to the hands-on nature of the training and the required student-to-instructor ratios, space in the December session is highly limited, and interested candidates are urged to register immediately.
Michael Carr, Aquatics Program Manager for the Erie County Health Department, emphasized the importance of the training. “This intensive, three-day course offers a critical opportunity for individuals to gain the necessary certifications to help keep our community pools and aquatic facilities safe. With the high demand for qualified lifeguards in the region, we encourage anyone interested in a rewarding job to register immediately, as space is extremely limited. This is a chance to acquire a vital, life-saving skill set.”
The training will cover all essential components of the certification, including water rescue techniques, first aid, CPR, and AED use.
