The Erie-Huron County Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program is a USDA-funded Special Supplemental Nutrition Program dedicated to protecting the health of income-eligible pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children up to age 5. Whether you need help buying healthy groceries, guidance on infant feeding, or connections to local health services, our WIC team is here to walk alongside your family every step of the way.

What WIC Provides for Your Family

• Nutritious Foods: Monthly electronic benefits (EBT) to purchase healthy foods including milk, eggs, cheese, fruit, vegetables, whole grains, cereal, juice, peanut butter, beans, infant formula, and baby food.
• Breastfeeding Support: One-on-one assistance from certified lactation specialists, peer helpers, free breast pumps for qualifying mothers, and specialized food packages for breastfeeding moms.
• Nutrition & Health Education: Personalized advice from registered dietitians and nutritionists to help you plan healthy, budget-friendly meals for your growing family.
• Healthcare Referrals: Seamless connections to doctors, dentists, immunizations, maternal mental health services, and community resources.

WIC Program Eligibility

To qualify for the WIC program eligibility ohio framework, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Categorical Requirement: Be a pregnant woman, a woman who recently had a baby (up to 6 months postpartum) or is breastfeeding (up to 1 year), an infant, or a child under 5 years old. (Fathers, grandparents, foster parents, and guardians can also apply for eligible children).
2. Residency: Live in Ohio (specifically serving Erie and Huron Counties).
3. Income Guidelines: Have a gross household income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. (Families automatically meet the income requirement if they currently receive SNAP, Medicaid, or Ohio Works First).
4. Nutritional Risk: Be evaluated by a WIC health professional at your first appointment (a quick, non-invasive health and nutrition assessment).
