STAND STEADY COALITION

Stand Steady PhotoIn Ohio, an older adult falls every minute. This results in three deaths every day, two hospitalizations every hour, and an emergency room visit every 6.5 minutes. Approximately 1 in 4 older adults will fall this year.

The purpose of the Stand Steady Coalition is to establish policy, systems, and environmental changes within Erie County to reduce the rate of falls resulting in injury or death as experienced by older adults. The Coalition meets quarterly to discuss exercise interventions, home modification needs and the STEADI toolkit. Stand Steady Coalition members include Erie County Health Department/Erie County Community Health Center, Firelands Health, Serving our Seniors, Erie County MetroParks, Family Health Services, BGSU Firelands, Erie County Senior Center, and the Area Office on Aging.

The Coalition’s mission is to work towards fall prevention practices to reduce the number of falls and fall related injuries among older adults.
