The Erie County Health Department is responsible for inspecting nearly 150 pools and spas throughout the county. Once a facility is licensed, the Environmental Health Specialists perform water chemistry testing and verification of equipment at every year to ensure that safe swimming can occur.
For tips about residential pool and spa operation, visit CDC Healthy Swimming.
To request information about a specific pool or spa, please use our contact page to submit a formal records request. Make sure to include the facility name and address and the period for which you would like records.
For uniform recordkeeping, the state-issued Weekly Pool Operation and Incident Report should be used to track water chemistry, equipment maintenance and testing, as well as any incidents that require the pool to close. Incidents that involve injuries should be reported directly to the state through their online form.
Plan review for new construction must be completed through the Ohio Department of Health with the application found here while renovations require an ‘Equipment Replacement Notice’.
More information, including links to the laws and rules that govern pool inspection programs can be found at Ohio Department of Health – Public Swimming Pools.
